To search IHS Dolphin Online:Note: This feature is available only to users with administrative permissions.
IHS Dolphin Online is DolphinRTK's master database of product MSDSs. You can search the thousands of MSDSs in IHS Dolphin Online and view their content. Depending on your permissions, you may also be able to do one or both of the following:
Request a product MSDS: Send a request to your system administrators that an MSDS from IHS Dolphin Online be acquired for your product list.
Acquire a product MSDS: Begin the process of adding an MSDS from IHS Dolphin Online to your product list. This may add the product MSDS immediately or send it to IHS for data indexing before it is delivered to your system.
Any MSDS acquired through IHS Dolphin Online is added to your system's record of all IHS Dolphin Online Acquisitions.
Note: While searching IHS Dolphin Online is an administrative function, it can be accessed through non-administrative search features. See procedure below for details.
To search IHS Dolphin Online:
Starting at the IHS Dolphin Online page
Enter the Product Name and/or Manufacturer of the product MSDS you seek. To narrow your search further, select criteria for MSDS Format, Language, and/or Revision Date. Then click Search.
Search results show all product MSDSs matching your criteria in IHS Dolphin Online. A single product may show multiple MSDSs for various formats, languages, and revision dates.
Note: When you perform a simple search or advanced search with administrative permissions, your search criteria may find matches in IHS Dolphin Online. When you view those matches, the displayed search results work the same as the ones shown here.
In your search results, click the format, language, or revision date of the product MSDS you want to view, request, or acquire.
The MSDS is displayed. If the MSDS shows an MSDS Table of Contents, click any section to jump to it in the text. You may return to the search results by clicking the "back" arrow in the upper left.
When viewing a product MSDS you want added to your product list, click one of the buttons in the upper right:
Request: Click to send a request for this product to your system administrators. For details on how to proceed, see Requesting a Product.
Acquire: Click to acquire the product MSDS. This displays the acquisition price; to confirm the acquisition, click Yes. Then:
If your system is configured to send new acquisitions to IHS for data indexing, the acquisition is now complete. IHS will deliver the new product MSDS to your product list in a future data update.
If new acquisitions are added to your product list immediately, you can edit the acquisition now; edit the Product Name, Manufacturer, and/or Revision date as desired. Then click Finish Acquisition to add the new revision to your product list.
The acquired MSDS is added to your system's record of all IHS Dolphin Online acquisitions.
